We’re halfway through winter here in the southern hemisphere and our skin may be in need of some tlc. In winter we’re trapped indoors a lot with artificial heating that is a continual drain on our skin hydration levels. Changing a few habits and implementing these simple skin care tips, can make all the difference between a dull complexion and glowing healthy winter radiance!
Many of us stop exfoliating in winter as our skin isn’t on show as much. But giving your skin a quick once weekly exfoliation can tidy up dead skin cells and allow your skin to better absorb your moisturiser. Right now I’m using our Mint & Lemon Scrub and when I use it, it leaves my skin so soft that I don’t need to moisturise afterwards!
Artificial heating leads to a lot of moisture loss over winter. When you picture your skin cells think sultana instead of grape. Mmm wrinkly and dull. Make sure you are moisturising your face morning and night and your body each day after showering. I’m currently using our Lime, Orange & Geranium Hand & Body Lotion as it is light and soaks in straight away so I can get dressed quickly on these chilly mornings.
3. Don’t forget your Lips
The same applies for your lips. Avoid dry chapped lips and make sure you apply a nutrient rich protective lip balm daily. Sometimes I just use organic coconut oil!
4. Stay hydrated
Keep up your healthy fluids – water, fresh juice, coconut water (how yum is that?) and treat yourself to an evening pot of herbal tea.
5. Beauty sleep
Take advantage of the slower pace of winter, rest up and get your beauty sleep. It helps all of your skin cells to rejuvenate and renew.
